Mascara Tips: how to apply mascara for long lush lashes
How to properly apply mascara.
Step One.
Mascara is a must! Even if you must skip all other makeup, mascara should be fit into every women's daily routine. Applying mascara takes less than a minute. So there is no excuse! Mascara will lengthen and thicken your lashes and brighten your eyes. If you're unsure how to apply mascara, here's some simple instructions for the perfect mascara application.
The most important step to the perfect mascara application is choosing the best kind for your eye makeup needs. Do you have short, straight lashes? Or long thin lashes that need volume? Check out our section on mascara types: choosing the best mascara to fit your eyes and which shape brushes to look for when buying a mascara.
Step Two.
Now that you're ready to apply, here's what to do: Start by wiggling the wand around in the tube. Never pump the wand in and out. This can cause air to get into the tube and dry out the mascara. Next, open one eye wide. Place the wand as close to the lash line and lid as possible, coming from underneath. Wiggle the wand left to right at the base of lashes, then pull the wand up and through lashes, wiggling as you go.
Step Three.
Finish by lightly touching the tips of the top lashes with the mascara wand and applying a light coat on the bottom lashes. This will add length to your lashes. Follow with another coat and allow to dry.
To Separate Eyelashes: Instead of using a eyelash comb to separate lashes, use the mascara wand. Wipe the mascara wand on a clean tissue then run the clean wand thru the coated lashes to separate.
Thick Eyelashes: Apply a coat of eyelash primer. Eyelashes primers condition and thicken the lashes and prepare your lashes for mascara.
Longer Eyelashes: Hold the mascara wand vertical and apply up and down to each lash. This extends the lashes.
Smudge free Eyelashes: If you're following all the steps to properly apply mascara, and you're still getting smudges. Most likely it has to do with the mascara brush itself. Try using a small, thinner mascara wand to apply.
