Cleaning your makeup brushes is a must! Wether your brushes are made of synthetic fibers or are a natural hair such as sable, goat or badger, all brushes should be maintained with a proper cleaning. If using a store bought product to clean your makeup brushes, read the label to see if it can be used on your type of synthetic or natural bristle brushes.
How to Clean Natural Hair Makeup Brushes: sable, goat, badger etc.
Take a small bowl and fill with warm water and a daub of gentle shampoo or facial cleanser.
Swish the brush around. Change the water if it becomes too dirty. Be gentle as not to disturb the bristles too much.
Rinse the bush under warm water with the tip facing down so the water doesn't enter the metal tubing part. This will loosen the hairs over time causing excess shedding.
Gently squeeze water from bristles. Reshape the bristles and lay flat on a towel. I know this may sound funny, but you can also tape the brush to the wall to ensure no water drips into the tubing part while drying. If in a rush, dry the brush with a hair dryer. Always point the dryer down the brush so you don't misshape the hairs.
Why use store bought brush cleaners?
Store bought makeup brush cleaners are made specifically to clean makeup brushes. they remove oil and bacteria and most have a conditioning agent that's great for natural hair brushes.
