Basic natural eyeliner application tips:
For a basic application, hold the skin gently at the end of the eye to create a semi taut service. Using a liner pencil, begin near the inner corner, lightly penciling in along lashline to the outer corner. If the line is too harsh, use your fingertip or a cotton swab to smudge the line.
Thick, Bold, Dramatic eyeliner application tips:
For dramatic eyes, hold the skin of your upper lid taut, apply the pencil liner from the middle of the eye to the outside corner of the eye. Next, draw a second line from the inside corner of your eye, till the two lines meet. It's much easier to break it down into 2 lines rather than trying to sweep across the entire top lid at once. Make sure the outer corner is thicker than the inner. You can use a smudge brush at the end to soften the look.
Cat Eyes eyeliner application tips:
For cat eyes, hold the skin of your upper lid taut, apply the liquid eyeliner from the middle of the eye to the outside corner of the eye. Next, draw a second line from the inside corner of your eye, till the two lines meet. It's much easier to break it down into 2 lines rather than trying to sweep across the entire top lid at once. For a smokey eye, we'll be using a thick pencil eyeliner. Make sure the eyeliner is soft and can be easily smudged. Hold the skin of your upper lid taut, apply eyeliner from the inside corner of the eye to the outer corner of the eye. Use your finger to smudge the liner. Next, line the bottom lashes and smudge. finish by applying a deep color eyeshadow with a brush over the liner. Apply to bottom lash line as well. Blend!!

So, you want a hint of color but don't want to use a solid colored eyeliner such as plum, navy blue or forest green? Here's the trick to adding color without creating the clown look. For a layered two tone look, simply line your eyes with either a black, charcoal or deep dark brown. Next, take your colored eyeliner and go over the first application. Gently smudge the 2 colors, without disturbing the line. You can also use shadow to do this instead of colored liner.
